A Letter To Students--Tampering with Fire Equipment

A message from the University Fire Division:

Tampering with fire equipment is no joke. It’s a criminal offence. But so far this semester, fire equipment is being tampered with at a rate that we have not seen for years.

In less than a month, we replaced more fire extinguishers in South Residence alone than we did in eight months last year.

At this rate, the loss/discharging of fire extinguishers in South Residence will cost Student Housing Services – and, in turn, every student -- a portion of more than $10,000.

If you see anyone tampering with fire equipment, please report it to your RA or RM. Or contact us anonymously through the “Report a fire hazard” section on our website: www.uoguelph.ca/fire [1].
