Meet Celeste Lopreito, the founder and owner of The Conscious Kitchen. The Conscious Kitchen offers prepared meals, recipe boxes, and a grocery subscription service that allows her customers to eat in alignment with their values.

If you live in the Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo, or surrounding areas you can get breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the table in minutes with local, seasonal, and plant-based ingredients in zero-waste packaging!

We sat down with Celeste to learn about her journey to becoming an entrepreneur!

What inspired you to start your business?

I love cooking, care deeply about animal rights, and I was tired of seeing all the waste from take-out or traditional grocery packaging. I wanted to offer delicious food that aligns with my values. I also knew I didn't want to work for anybody else!

What problem were you trying to solve?

People are busier than ever with less time to cook, and want delicious, healthy, convenient food that aligns with their values (plant-based, zero waste, organic, local, etc.). That's what I offer!

What helps you to keep generating new ideas to grow or change your business?

I am constantly seeking inspiration online (YouTube, instagram, Facebook for recipe ideas) as well as learning from fellow businesses. I'm not afraid to admit when something is not working, and then try something new. I have to re-evaluate things constantly to figure out what is working and what isn't.

What’s a piece of advice you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

Don't be held back by what an entrepreneur is "supposed" to look like. As a 23-year-old woman of colour, when most people meet me they think I am just a delivery driver or an employee. It can be frustrating, but don't let that stop you.
