2022 Canine Health Topics Request for Proposals

Description

The mission of the AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF) is to advance the health of all dogs and their owners by funding sound scientific research and supporting the dissemination of health information to prevent, treat and cure canine disease. CHF supports a One Health model as a critical tool to achieving this vision, with a multidisciplinary approach to addressing the health needs of all dogs and their people.

The Foundation is focused on funding innovative research in canine health with emphasis on genetics, mechanisms of disease, pathology and molecular basis of disease, prevalence and epidemiological approaches to health concerns, clinical application of research findings, and topics related to life stages, society, population health, preventive medicine, and/or emerging issues. Other areas could address the human-animal bond; including but not limited to veterinary social work, dog assisted interventions, or improving collaboration among private for-profit and non-profit veterinary service providers.

Proposals accepted through this RFP include all CHF research program areas except vector-borne diseases, which have recently been covered by AKC: 2022 Vector-Borne Disease request for proposals and therefore will not be accepted for scientific review as part of this RFP. Collaborative studies are encouraged.
