Description

The BioProducts AgSci cluster is a nationally focused science and technology commercialization cluster under AAFC as part of their Agriscience policy framework initiative.  The goal of the BioProducts AgSci cluster is to create unique and growing opportunities for Canadian farmers and the agriculture sector.  BIC envisions the projects within the cluster as being defined by the following themes:

  • Bioproducts processing
  • New support for transformative industries
  • Environmental focus and/or combating climate change
  • Support for existing agricultural commodities

Special Notes

As a requirement, projects are to have collaboration with an industry or other partner, with an anticipated 30-40% of funding to be provided by these partners.

How to Apply

BIC has confirmed the application process is a two stage process.  The Call for Proposals is the first step of the application process (similar to an Letter of Intent).  If your Proposal is approved by BIC, you will be invited to submit a full funding application.

Step 1. Proposal: Please complete a proposal in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the below Call for Proposals Letter.  Researchers are not required to submit this proposal to the Office of Research for approval before submission to the sponsor.  Researchers are asked to send a copy of their proposal to the Office of Research for information purposes only (no OR-5 is required at this stage).  Researchers will be notified by BIC if they have been invited to submit a full funding application.

Step 2. Full Funding Application: Only successful applicants will be invited to submit a full funding application for consideration by BIC.  Those invited to submit a full funding application must submit their application to the Office of Research two weeks in advance of the sponsor's deadline, along with a signed OR-5.
