Description
CFI seeks to support promising and innovative research or technology development in areas where Canada currently is, or has the potential to be, competitive on the global stage. It is currently anticipated that the next competition for CFI-IF will be launched in Fall 2021. The University of Guelph is starting its review and selection process now to identify strong, competitive proposals and to provide the resources needed to move them forward. All interested parties are invited to submit an Expression of Interest.
The University will allocate its CFI IF envelope competitively based on these factors: potential to achieve global leadership; strength of the PI and team; alignment with institutional priority and prior investments; research impact (partnerships with relevant industry and non-profit organizations and benefits to Canada); and need for the requested infrastructure. Allocation decisions will also take into account a project’s potential to establish partnerships with, and access to envelope of, other institutions.
Deadlines will be updated upon program launch.

How to Apply
Expressions of interest will be evaluated by the CFI IF Advisory Committee for strength of the team, potential to achieve global leadership in an area of institutional priority, and appropriateness for the CFI-IF competition. Information For Co-applicants
- If you do not require access to the University's CFI Innovation Fund allocation, simply notify Manager, Strategic Research Programs at the Office of Research Services at ailsakay@uoguelph.ca.
- If you would like to request allocation, submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for Co-Applicants to Manager, Strategic Research Programs at ailsakay@uoguelph.ca by August 9, 2021 (9am).
