Fall 2021 Guidelines for Human Participant Face-to-Face Research

We have developed new Fall 2021 Guidelines for Human Participant Face-to-Face Research which address on and off campus and out of province research. This document supersedes older Guidelines that were previously available. The Fall 2021 Guidelines are to be used with the University of Guelph's Frameworks for Phasing-In Human Participant Face-to-Face Research at University of Guelph (On CampusOff Campus) and approved pre-existing Research Management Plans (RMPs).

The human face-to-face research will comply with the University's mandate for full vaccination status and masking. Assessment of risk on campus assumes that these two measures are sufficient to curb the spread of the virus. As such, the face-to-face human research enterprise will adopt these baseline measures.

Researchers may proceed using their existing and approved RMPs if protocols are working well, with the addition of the institution's baseline requirements. Researchers with approved RMPs can elect to follow the new RMP amendment which allows for changes in risk mitigation protocols currently in place.

In the event the University needs to revert to greater restrictions, researchers can anticipate returning to measures under the Red (Control) level, which is detailed in the Fall 2021 Guidelines document.
