What We Do

Our innovative, transformational learning programs guide student entrepreneurs to solve problems with critical solutions and ensure students are ready for the next steps in their entrepreneurial journey. The John F. Wood Centre is proud to offer the following programs and resources to students across the University of Guelph Campus:

MakerSpace

This is where the magic happens! The Makerspace is fully equipped with anything you may need for your small business. From 3D scanners and printers, laser engraving, crafting supplies, cameras and more – the Makerspace is your one-stop-shop to innovation and creating new products. The space and equipment are free for any student on campus to use.

Renovation is currently underway for the MakerSpace! We look forward to welcoming you to the new space this Fall!

Innovation Toolkit

The Innovation Toolkit is a process for problem-solving. It uses tools commonly found in entrepreneurship and innovation to help you tackle wicked problems on the issues that matter.

For over ten years, The John F. Wood Centre at the University of Guelph has led in community engagement, entrepreneurship, and innovation. We have adapted these tools from our work and research in those fields and codified them into a simple toolkit for use by students, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and community members.

Hub Incubator

A three-step program to help student entrepreneurs turn their ideas into real business ventures. With the help of mentors, advisors, and The Wood Centre staff, students work through the ideation process, validate their concepts, conduct market research, and begin the product development phase through our 3 programs.
