Position Description:

The Department of Management (DoM), in the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at the University of Guelph invites applications from outstanding candidates with a commitment to student engagement and transformative pedagogy, scholarship that is making a difference in the world, and community engagement, for one contractually limited position at the rank of Assistant Professor specializing in Corporate Social Responsibility, for a three-year term. The start date for the appointment is July 1, 2018.

Applicants should have earned a doctorate in Management. Preference will be given to applicants who have earned an MBA and have a track record of effectively teaching sustainability at the post-secondary level, practical business experience, and personal engagement with the UN’s PRME and SDG initiatives as well as the AIM2Flourish Program. The distribution of effort for this position is expected to be: 80% teaching, 10% scholarship, 10% service. The candidate’s scholarly interests should be focused on some aspect of corporate social responsibility broadly defined. We are particularly interested in a candidate whose research connects management theory with management practice and produces impact on both practice and the development of theory. We are respectful of different approaches and perspectives in meeting these objectives.

The Department of Management has 20 faculty members and responsibility for two majors in the Bachelor of Commerce program - Accounting, and Leadership and Organization Management. The Department also offers an undergraduate leadership certificate and contributes to CBE’s MBA, MA in Leadership, and PhD in Management. Faculty members are committed to CBE’s vision of “being and developing leaders for a sustainable world” and take a sustainable approach to organizational success through teaching and research in accounting, entrepreneurship, financial management, business policy/strategy, human resource management, organizational behaviour, leadership, and corporate social responsibility.
