BASc - Adult Development (ADEV)

The Major - discontinued in 2020 replaced by Family Studies and Human Development (FSHD)

Your studies will focus on health from young adulthood to old age allowing you to apply knowledge to promote individual and family well-being.  This program will provide you with an understanding of the influence of psychological, social, biological and economic factors on individual development, capabilities, health and relationships across the lifespan.

 This program provides a solid foundation for the pursuit of graduate studies in fields such as social work, family relations, gerontology, occupational therapy, family law and mediation, couple and family therapy, education, sexual health, human resource management, and health studies.

The Learning Approach

Our courses involve you in current research and theory in adult development and aging, family and social relationships, human sexuality, social policy and community services. You will have the opportunity to deepen your studies in one or more of these core content areas, or to choose electives in a related or complementary field.  Field placements and community service learning opportunities will enable you to gain knowledge, skills and values to work effectively with individuals and groups in a variety of settings.
