U of G Student Wins Bronze at World Curling Championships

University of Guelph student Craig Van Ymerren won a bronze medal at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. The second-year bachelor of commerce student in agricultural business is a member of the curling team that defeated China 7 to 1 on Sunday at the championship tournament held in Flims, Switzerland.

Van Ymerren is the third on his team, which is anchored by skip Jake Walker and based out of Kitchener's Westmount Golf & Country Club. They won the Canadian junior national championships in January.

The team finished 6-3 in the round-robin portion of the worlds behind Scotland 8-1 and China and Switzerland at 7-2. Switzerland ended up winning the gold medal.
