REB Working Group Report: Update on implementing recommendations

The Office of Research has been working toward implementing recommendations from the REB Working Group Report, focusing on a new electronic submission system, a simpler REB Application Form and automated time-saving workflows. Activities include:

  • Selected the Ethics RM software solution from Infonetica through a robust procurement process — January to July 2023
  • Hired a dedicated Project Manager and started working with Infonetica — July / August 2023
  • Began building a new Main Application Form to replace the current MS Word REB Application Form, a collaborative effort between the Ethics Office with support from Laura Beaupre and Tom Crabtree — September / October 2023

Next, the project team will solicit input from researchers and REB members on the new Main Application Form — November and December 2023. Researchers interested in participating should contact Katelyn Wadleigh. Additional opportunities to participate in testing will arise before the project is completed.

Please note as a result of the implementation, response times from the Ethics Office may be more delayed than usual, and expedited review requests cannot be considered except in extenuating circumstances.
