Call status: CLOSED
The Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance is a highly productive, entrepreneurial community of people dedicated to finding solutions that improve life. Commercialization involves transferring our research and innovations into the marketplace in a way that improves the lives of the people of Ontario while also enhancing business productivity and creating jobs.
The Alliance has a funding program that accelerates the development of new products, processes and technologies based on innovative research results, which will benefit the Ontario agri-food and rural sectors.
Gryphon’s LAAIR accelerates the adoption of innovative research
Gryphon’s LAAIR (Leading to the Accelerated Adoption of Innovative Research) is a program funded by OMAFRA and the U of G designed to support the commercialization of research findings. The Gryphon’s LAAIR funding program aims to take the best research and use it to develop new products which should attract private sector funding, create jobs and make Ontario more competitive.
Two types of grants are available to help University of Guelph researchers turn their ideas into marketable products or services.
- Market Validation Grants help researchers conduct market research to determine the size and quality of the market opportunity for a new and promising technology, product or service.
- Product Development Grants help researchers create prototypes, perform field trials, remove any barriers to a market launch and optimize a minimum viable product that best meets the needs of customers, all in support of the Ontario agri-food economy.
