Commercialization Policy

The government of Ontario introduced a Commercialization Mandate Policy Framework that will help publicly assisted colleges and universities better commercialize innovations, ideas and products generated through “Ontario-made” research and innovation.

Intellectual Property Policy

As per the Policy on Intellectual Property, approved June 5, 2014, at the University of Guelph, intellectual property is owned by those who create it, unless otherwise restricted by contractual or funding terms.

As per Article 52 of the University of Guelph Faculty Association (UGFA) Collective Agreement, UGFA members have the right to retain ownership of IP that they have created unless otherwise restricted by contractual or funding terms.

All inventors may choose to assign IP ownership to the University.
