Education and Employment Background

Dr. Luiza Antonie received her PhD from the University of Alberta in 2008. Between 2009 and 2014, Antonie worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of Guelph. She joined the U of G’s School of Computer Science in 2016 where she is currently an Associate Professor.


Research Themes

Antonie’s research interests are in data mining and machine learning techniques and methodology for interdisciplinary and applied research, with a focus on record linkage, classification, and data integration. Outside the School of Computer Science, she participates in interdisciplinary collaborations with other faculty members and students from Economics and History. Examples of research projects include:

  1. Creating longitudinal data from historical census collections.
  2. Data-driven analysis of the gender wage gap in Ontario.
