Course Developer | Financial Decision-Making for Managers

Course Developer (Subject Matter Expert) Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced course developer (subject matter expert) to design and develop Financial Decision-Making for Managers. This course is part of the Next Move: Professional Growth Series, a portfolio of flexible, self-directed online micro-credentials designed to help learners sharpen their skills, expand their influence, and lead with confidence at every stage of their professional journey.

The successful candidate will combine expertise in financial decision-making with demonstrated experience creating engaging, learner-centred online courses for adult learners.

About the Course

Financial Decision-Making for Managers is a 15-hour self-directed online micro-credential within the Lead level of the Next Move: Professional Growth Series. Designed for current and emerging managers of people, teams, or projects, learners will develop the confidence to interpret financial information, manage budgets, evaluate trade-offs, assess return on investment (ROI), and understand how everyday decisions influence organizational performance.

Experience

We are seeking candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning & analysis
  • Adult learning and online course development
  • Learning design for self-directed learning

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who have:

  • Significant professional experience in finance, business, management, or a related field
  • Five or more years of relevant industry or leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing curriculum or self-directed online learning programs
  • A strong understanding of adult learning principles and learner-centred course design
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into engaging learning experiences
  • An ability to collaborate effectively with instructional designers and project team members

Development Responsibilities & Engagement

Course developers will be engaged as independent contractors to develop a 15-hour, self-directed online course in collaboration with the instructional design team at the School of Continuing Studies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing learning content, applied learning activities, case studies, assessments,
  • Supporting course resources

Development is estimated at 30–40 hours, depending on course scope and experience, and will take place from August to December 2026.
