Meet Canada’s Nutrition Labelling Requirements
We create NFTs for foods and supplemented foods for the following nutrients:
GFIC can assess whether or not your product requires the new front-of-package (FOP) label based on your product’s classification, list of ingredients, and nutritional content (i.e., saturated fat, sugar, and sodium content).
Our NFT Methods
We offer two NFT methods that are suitable depending on your product: Analytical and Calculated NFT methods. If your product is a good fit for both methods, they are both equally legitimate and result in the same type of compliant NFT.
At GFIC, our analytical NFT testing provides compliant laboratory-analyzed nutrient values that quantifies what’s actually in your product without declaring your formulation or ingredients. Your product is chemically tested for energy, macronutrients, vitamins, and minerals that reflect your product’s true composition.
This analytical NFT method is best for foods that change during processing (i.e., baking, frying, fermenting, brining, and curing) and foods that intend to have a Canadian health claim (e.g., “high fibre”, “low sodium”, etc.).
While an NFT is provided with each analytical test, a list of ingredients and allergens is not included.
How it works:
Fill out our intake form
Complete project payment.
Send at least 500 g sample of each product(s) to GFIC. The sample should be manufactured in a representative condition (as your customers would receive it) for the most accurate results.
Wait for ~10-12 business days for laboratory analysis of your product(s).
Use your report and NFT(s) for your packaging and/or marketing materials!
