Maplewoods Therapy Groups

We offer therapy groups to provide a treatment option that allows our clients and families to learn from and support one another. Joining a group is a great way to learn that other children and families have similar struggles, and that you are not alone!

Current Therapy Groups

Researchers at the University of Guelph's Child Emotion and Mental Health Lab are examining the efficacy of an Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) program called "Families and Feelings First."

We invite parents of children aged 7-15 years with anxiety, depression, or behavioural challenges to attend six two-hour group sessions of EFFT. The fee for six treatment sessions is $240.

As part of the treatment, you and your child are invited to participate in a study involving questionnaires, physiology measurement, and interactive tasks.

You will receive compensation up to $135 (parents) and $60 (children) in gift cards.

Please email efft@uoguelph.ca or call 519-824-4120, ext. 53059.

This project has been reviewed by the Research Ethics Board for compliance with federal guidelines for research involving human participants (REB #21-10-012CT).

Does your child struggle with self-confidence, anxiety, and difficulty making friends?

Join the Positive and Confident Kids (PACK) group! PACK is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy group that will provide skills to manage anxiety, develop confidence, and foster friendships.

Who? Children 8-13 years old with anxiety or a neurodevelopmental disorder (e.g. FASD, ASD, ADHD) that have difficulty with friendships.

When? 7-week in-person group at the Maplewoods Centre.
