Gryphons Win Bronze at Canadian Championships

University of Guelph track and field athletes won four bronze medals at the Canadian Track and Field Championships, which were held in Moncton, N.B., June 27 to 29.

The annual outdoor track and field competition is organized by Athletics Canada and serves as the Canadian national championships for the sport.

Leading the way was Gryphon Genevieve Lalonde, who competed in her hometown and took third in the women's 3,000-metre steeplechase.

Guelph’s other bronze medal winners were Ross Proudfoot, men's 1,500m; Anthony Romaniw, men’s 800m; and Julia Wallace, women's triple jump.

Carise Thompson and Chris Dulhanty placed fourth in the women's 1,500m and the men's steeplechase, respectively. Both were named to Team Canada for the North American, Central American and Caribbean Under 23 Championships, which will be held in Kamloops, B.C., in August.
