Creative Stream

New to 2024, Project SOY Plus is opening a new competition stream where students are challenged to create expressive works, imaginative compositions, or creative artworks that explore themes related to the Circular Economy.

The Call for Submissions is open to works that draw aesthetic, material, or metaphoric lines of connection between the Circular Economy, Innovation, and Research. We encourage explorations that span a broad range, including materiality, subject matter, research, and abstraction. The scope of acceptable submissions is broad and includes sculptures, paintings, prints, mixed media, photography, video art, poetry,  written works, plays, and music.

Students are asked to submit a poster of their concept ahead of the March 2024 Project SOY Plus Finale, where accepted submissions will be displayed as part of a Poster Showcase. All students are invited to attend the Project Stream Competition Showcase and Creative Stream Winner announcement.

Ahead of the showcase, students are also required to submit a four-page (double-spaced) project proposal that, in combination with the poster, will be reviewed by a panel of judges. At the final event, the panel will announce one work to be commissioned by the Research Innovation Office. The winning student(s) will be paid $2,500 for their time and expenses related to the work. Depending on the proposed creative endeavor, the Research Innovation Office will work with the student(s) to provide an appropriate venue to display or perform their creative piece.
