The Prix Galien Canada - 2021 Research Award is a prestigious award in the field of Canadian pharmaceutical research and innovation, referred to as the Nobel Prize of pharmaceutical research.

The Prix Galien is open to any person or team who has been involved for at least the last five years in research leading or making a substantial contribution to the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease. Candidates from academia, health care institutions, research centers and industry are eligible.


The recipient of this distinguished award will receive a medal and a framed written recognition.

The Vice-President (Research) encourages nominations for this award, and will serve as nominator for those nominees recommended by the Honours and Awards Advisory Committee.  If you wish to nominate a colleague or to be considered for VPR nomination, please submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to by the internal deadline. 

An Expression of Interest will include:

  • A draft letter (two-three pages) addressed to the VPR, signed by your ADR, which outlines how you/your nominee meets the criteria outlined in the ​Prix Galien Canada  2020 Research Award submission criteria; and
  • an up-to-date CV for nominee (and each member of the team, if applicable)

If your nomination will be submitted by a different nominee, and therefore does not require the Vice-President's endorsement, please submit a complete nomination to by the external deadline.
