Funding for Cross-Provincial Collaborations: The Alberta-Ontario Innovation Program

Description

The Alberta-Ontario Innovation Program supports cross-provincial collaborations between industry and academia to solve key industry challenges in both provinces. The program is managed by Alberta Innovates-Technology Futures (AITF) and Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE). Industry-academic projects can also leverage existing NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council) programs, provided that they fall within NSERC’s mandate.

The program provides Ontario researchers the ability to broaden the scope of their work.  For industry, it is an opportunity to potentially match funding provincially in Ontario or Alberta and federally.

AITF and OCE contribute talent matching capabilities to connect companies within and across the provinces. Industry can be connected to the best researchers who can provide innovative solutions to real-world challenges. On Wednesday August 26th, Alistair Hazewinkel, Senior Business Partner, Investment at AITF and Carole Champion, Director of Industrial Engagement at OCE will join us to present an overview of the opportunities provided under the Alberta-Ontario program.

Between 10:00 and 11:00, faculty will have the opportunity to meet with Carol and Alistair one-on-one to discuss their own research. For researchers that may be looking to initiate partnerships with companies and industry groups in Alberta, this session will provide an excellent opportunity to develop new connections through AIFT.
