Faculty Information Exchange 2015-16: Systematic reviews 101

DateLocation
Tuesday January 19, 2016 12:00pm to 1:00pm
Library - Florence Partridge Rm 384

Description

Led by Lee-Anne Ufholz, Regional Sales Manager, Wolters Kluwer Health

This information session is an introduction to systematic reviews with a focus on methods for developing a question and protocol, searching for evidence.

Research guidelines and tools for preparing systematic reviews (SR) are now widely available for reviews of clinical effectiveness, as well as summarizing, or analyzing information for a given body of literature.

Learning objectives of this session are:  1. Understand the framework for developing a research question; 2. Outline and describe the common elements that should be included within an SR protocol; 3. List common errors novices make when conducting systematic reviews (for example, errors with basic literature searching); 4. Identify relevant reporting guidelines; and 5. Understand the time commitment and resources required for a systematic review to be completed.

No reservation necessary.

All welcome!

What is Research Alerts?

Research Alerts is a communications technology that allows UoG faculty, staff and students to stay up to date on news from the Office of Research. Through Research Alerts, subscribers receive emails related to research funding opportunities, workshops and events, policies and more. Each subscriber sets individual preferences to indicate the topics and categories of information that are of interest to them. When a message (Alert) is published in the Office of Research that matches the subscriber's selected preference categories and topics, it is e-mailed directly to the subscriber. Because this is a web-based technology, the Research Alerts site can also be searched using the search fields, or browsed through the topics by category.
