BLA student Rachel Fraser represented her team at the Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Association's Student Design Competition [1] awards, held at the Deerhurst Resort this year. Rachel,  Jeryn MacKey and Ziji (Gary) Zhang achieved 3rd place for their design proposal entitled EcoLink. BLA students Adam Persi, Daniel Cornacchia and Kevin Wu won 4th place for their design entitled Stoneshore Lake Conservation Area.  Rachel is pictured here with Greg Sweetnam, Vice President of James Dick Caledon Sand and Gravel Inc., which offered up their Caledon Pit for the focus of the competition. The annual OSSGA competition invites Ontario university and college students to apply their design skills to create a rehabilitation design proposal for an existing Ontario quarry or pit. Winners are awarded monetary prizes and winning entries are displayed at OSSGA's annual conference.
