Ashleigh Weeden (PhD Candidate in Rural Studies) recently published commentary in The Conversation [1] exploring the way the pandemic is changing where people are choosing to live and work. The article discusses the critical role of engaging rural perspectives when discussing the potential of people moving out of cities and into the countryside. Ashleigh’s commentary has been picked up and published by several newspapers and radio stations (including a University of Guelph news article [2]), contributing to important conversations about the potential social, economic, and political implications of an ‘urban exodus’ for both urban and rural communities alike.
