Putting Capacity Development and Extension (CDE) Skills to Work

Heather White (BSc Env, ’02 and MSc CDE candidate) has been brought onto the Soils at Guelph [1] team as the new Knowledge Mobilization and Community Coordinator [2].  Housed in the School of Environmental Sciences, this initiative aims to advance sustainable soil management in Ontario by making all soil-related research available to those that could benefit from it.  It believes that to advance sustainable soil management, knowledge exchange needs to occur between researchers, farmers, industry, government, and the general public. This may include research being done in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development that considers agricultural soils – so don’t be surprised if Heather reaches out to SEDRD researchers in the months to come!

About Us

The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) brings together major academic fields concerned with creating strong communities, in Canada and around the world. The four highly respected programs in SEDRD share many common goals but approach them in different and complementary ways. This model reflects the imperatives in building authentic communities where planners, landscape architects, communicators, and citizens all play important interdependent roles in community strength.
