Dr. Karen Landman hosted Dr. Rudi van Etteger, [1] Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning, at Wageningen University & Research, the Netherlands. Dr van Etteger presented a talk this fall to the MLA1 students in their Landscape Resource Analysis course on the Dutch Room for the River program, which is focused on the safety and spatial quality of the Dutch riverine areas, and he also participated in discussion with MLA2 Research Methods students. Dr. van Etteger also held a discussion with landscape architecture students on the future of design education, including a presentation entitled: Challenges for future landscape architects, or how to "science the ... out of this."

About Us

The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) brings together major academic fields concerned with creating strong communities, in Canada and around the world. The four highly respected programs in SEDRD share many common goals but approach them in different and complementary ways. This model reflects the imperatives in building authentic communities where planners, landscape architects, communicators, and citizens all play important interdependent roles in community strength.
