2023 Rural Romp

Submitted by dfoolen on March 1st, 2023 4:12 PM
Date:
Friday, March 17th, 2023 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM
Location:

The Arboretum, University of Guelph

On behalf of the Rural Planning & Development Department, we are incredibly excited to extend an invitation to you to attend the Rural Romp, which will take place on March 17th!

The Rural Romp is an annual day-long symposium which is hosted by RPD students, and explores topics related to planning through a rural lens. This year we have chosen to focus on what it means to plan, and advocate, at both physical and professional boundaries. We will use our time together to explore the ability of planners to speak out in defence of planning principles without crossing a professional boundary. We have a very exciting line up of activities including:

  • A keynote presentation by Victor Doyle, a former provincial planner who helped create the Greenbelt legislation
  • An afternoon tour at a local farm & cidery; and
  • A networking reception in downtown Guelph

The Romp will start at 9:30am and will run into the early evening, but you are welcome to join us for the entire day or attend only those portions of the day that work for your schedule! Please note that registration is limited for the afternoon and evening portion of the event, and we encourage you to sign-up early to reserve your spot for these activities.

This event has been made available at no cost to attendees through the generous support of the GSP group and the University of Guelph and is open to all University of Guelph students as well as planning students and professionals across Ontario.

We would love if you would join us for a day of learning, networking, and of course romping, and would encourage you to share this invitation with others in your network who are interested in this topic!

You can find more details about the event and sign-up through our Eventbrite page using this link. [1]

If you have any questions or require any accommodations to participate, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

We can’t wait to romp with you!

Warmly,

Erin & Sarah-Anne

About Us

The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) brings together major academic fields concerned with creating strong communities, in Canada and around the world. The four highly respected programs in SEDRD share many common goals but approach them in different and complementary ways. This model reflects the imperatives in building authentic communities where planners, landscape architects, communicators, and citizens all play important interdependent roles in community strength.
