On behalf of the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, we invite all graduate students to attend the 2024 Rural Romp on Thursday, March 28, from 11:30 am until 5:30 pm!

This year’s Rural Romp will focus on “Roots and Relationships,” exploring connections between land, people, and place through a half day of talks and excursions. We have a very exciting lineup of activities, including:

  • A Lunch and Learn with Guelph community builders: Laura Paaren, Marsha Hynes Myrie, and Ken Yee Chew;
  • A walk through the Rockwood Conservation Area; and
  • An afternoon tour at a local farm and cidery.

The Romp will start at 11:30 am at the University of Guelph Landscape Architecture building and return to campus around 5:30 pm. We encourage you to sign up early to reserve your spot! You can register for the event through the Google Link form [1].

This event is available at no cost to attendees through the generous support of the University of Guelph. It is open to all University of Guelph students, as well as planning students and professionals across Ontario.

If you have any questions or require any accommodations to participate, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

We can’t wait to romp with you!

About Us

The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) brings together major academic fields concerned with creating strong communities, in Canada and around the world. The four highly respected programs in SEDRD share many common goals but approach them in different and complementary ways. This model reflects the imperatives in building authentic communities where planners, landscape architects, communicators, and citizens all play important interdependent roles in community strength.
