Submitted by dfoolen on October 7th, 2024 10:08 AM

SEDRD graduate students and faculty are well represented in the latest issue of Y Magazine from the Ontario Professional Planners Institute [1]. This issue of Y Magazine contains three contributions from SEDRD graduate students and faculty:

  • Silvia Sarapura, Paul Benalcazar, Charlotte Potter, Justina Walker, Firoze Alam, Danial Salari, and Dakota Cherry share insights on the Braiding Food Systems research taking place with three northern Ontario First Nations (Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg, Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging, Red Rock Indian Band).
  • Ryan Gibson, Heather Graham, Paul Sitsofe, Niju Mathew, and Sarah-Patricia Breen share insights on innovative approaches to workforce development in rural and northern Ontario.
  • Regan Zink, Ramy Shath, Maryam Sabzevari, Chris Tyrrell, and Ryan Des Roches discuss how internationally trained planners can actively contribute to the planning across Ontario.

Take a read of these articles in the Y Magazine [2].

The Y Magazine is published by the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and serves to discuss the role of planners; exposing economic, social, and infrastructure issues; and exploring the leading practices and emerging trends in the planning profession.

About Us

The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) brings together major academic fields concerned with creating strong communities, in Canada and around the world. The four highly respected programs in SEDRD share many common goals but approach them in different and complementary ways. This model reflects the imperatives in building authentic communities where planners, landscape architects, communicators, and citizens all play important interdependent roles in community strength.
