RPD Graduates Honoured with 2026 Wayne J. Caldwell Convocation Awards

Congratulations to Jessica Kilpatrick on receiving the 2026 Wayne J. Caldwell Prize for Excellence in Rural Planning.  This prize is awarded annually to the Master of Science in Rural Planning and Development student who achieves the highest cumulative academic average. Jessica’s accomplishment is a testament to her outstanding academic achievement, dedication, and commitment to the field of rural planning.  Named in honour of Wayne J. Caldwell, the award recognizes Dr. Caldwell’s significant contributions to planning education and practice through his distinguished career in Rural Planning and Development. The prize reflects his commitment to fostering excellence among graduates who work to strengthen and enhance rural communities in Canada and around the world.

Congratulations to Aubree Erickson on receiving the 2025 Wayne J. Caldwell Prize for Service in Rural Planning. Established by Wayne J. Caldwell, this award recognizes students who have made exceptional contributions to the Rural Planning and Development program through leadership, professional engagement, and community service. Recipients are selected based on the scope and impact of their involvement, including participation in student organizations, the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI), the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), and other community-based initiatives.  During her time in the Rural Planning and Development program, Aubree demonstrated a strong commitment to student leadership and professional service, serving as the OPPI Student Liaison and helping to strengthen connections between students and the planning profession. This award recognizes her meaningful contributions to the program and her dedication to advancing the field of rural planning.
