Rural Ontario Week takes place September 20–26, 2026, celebrating the economic, cultural, and community contributions of rural regions across the province. This year’s theme, “Big things happen in rural places!”, recognizes the people, ideas, and partnerships shaping a strong and vibrant rural Ontario.

Throughout the week, the University of Guelph’s School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) will celebrate the students, faculty, alumni, and community partners working to create sustainable landscapes and stronger rural futures. Their research, teaching, and community engagement demonstrate how rural places contribute to innovation, resilience, and prosperity in Ontario and beyond.
