Dr. Mahatab Uddin, Adjunct Professor in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) at the University of Guelph, has contributed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the United Nations body that assesses scientific evidence on climate change. Dr. Uddin serves as a Lead Author for Working Group III of the IPCC’s Seventh Assessment Report (AR7), which focuses on climate change mitigation.

In this capacity, Dr. Uddin participated in the second Lead Authors Meeting (LAM 2) of AR7, held from September 28 to October 2, 2026, at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Pathum Thani, Thailand. The meeting brought together about 200 experts appointed as Lead Authors for Working Group III to advance preparation for the AR7 assessment.

Dr. Uddin is an adjunct faculty member in SEDRD and continues to collaborate with Dr. Ataharul Chowdhury on research addressing climate change, the legal and ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence, and intellectual property rights.
