Winners for the 2012 OSSGA Provincial Student Design Competition:

Since 2001, the Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (OSSGA) annual Student Design Competition, generously funded by The Ontario Aggregate Resources Corporation, has been challenging Ontario University and College students to put their design skills to work by creating a rehabilitation plan for Ontario pits and quarries.  Every year, OSSGA invites a diverse panel of qualified judges including aggregate land managers, landscape architects, biologists, and engineers to evaluate and award the best projects.

Four winning designs were selected by the judges earlier this year. University of Guelph BLA students won 1st, 2nd and 4th of the 4 prizes. In February 2013, the winning designs were on display for three days at OSSGA’s Annual General Meeting in Huntsville where members had the opportunity to examine the work up close. Each winning entry is also written up in the OSSGA awards booklet and in the industry's Avenues Magazine. This year OSSGA wishes to recognize the winning teams in an award ceremony at the University of Guelph being planned for the fall.  More details will be provided when they become available.

2nd prize team - AFC Forest:  Brian Fong, Laura Wood, Meghan Hunter                             
4th prize team - Ecological Revolution:  Shaine Wasserman, Ian Fyfe, Haley Farmer
