SEDRD To Attend Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services Meeting in Berlin

Submitted by dfoolen on September 12th, 2013 3:51 PM

SEDRD is engaged with United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s annual flagship publication known as The State of Food and Agriculture (SOFA). Each year it has a thematic focus on a major topic of importance for agricultural, rural development and food security. The topic of the 2014 edition of the SOFA is “Agricultural innovation in family farming for sustainable rural development”. SOFA consultations will include a presentation to the Global Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services, the apex association for agricultural extension. Capacity Development and Extension (CDE)Associate Professor, Helen Hambly Odame will co-facilitate the FAO-SOFA presentation.  Two CDE grad students, Brittany Anello and Steve Legrand (an intern currently with FAO in Rome) are also involved. Steve has been researching the concept and practice of "capacity to innovate" as a contribution to the SOFA by FAO's Research and Extension Unit. Further info available here:

The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) brings together major academic fields concerned with creating strong communities, in Canada and around the world. The four highly respected programs in SEDRD share many common goals but approach them in different and complementary ways.
