Evaluation is a calling that requires strong analytical, problem-solving, research, and communication skills. Dr. Harry Cummings, Professor in the School of Environment Design and Rural Development at the University of Guelph, has an established reputation for his evaluation work. Transcending national boundaries, Dr. Cummings works with non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and the public sector across Canada and internationally to help monitor and evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability of projects and programs.

Within Canada, Dr. Cummings is currently working on various evaluation projects, including: three projects in Ontario, four projects in Nunavik Northern Quebec, one project in the North West Territories, and one project in Yukon.  Dr. Cummings has conducted a Skills Gap Study in Huron, Bruce, Perth, and Grey and was interviewed by CKNX on this issue (for more details check out: www.bayshorebroadcasting.ca/news_item.php?NewsID=65941).

On February 18th, Dr. Cummings’ on-going work with the Green Belt Project was showcased on TV Ontario. (This episode can be accessed online at: theagenda.tvo.org/episode/210879/a-decade-of-the-greenbelt).“I am glad that someone thought that the research was important enough to showcase,” said Dr. Cummings in conversation about his work.

Outside of Canada, Dr. Cummings most recently evaluated a UNICEF project in Indonesia and a Canadian Red Cross project in Tamil Nadu, India. Significant findings and lessons learned from this later evaluation have been submitted for publication in the Journal of Primary Health Care Research & Development.

In addition to managing and orchestrating evaluation projects, Dr. Cummings teaches a course on Logic Models with the Canadian Evaluation Society. He also contributes to the European Evaluation Society.

Harry Cummings has also completed projects for the Rural Ontario Institute. For more information on evaluation projects, past or present, as well as details on the profile and portfolio of Dr. Cummings, please visit: http://www.hcaconsulting.ca/
