Guelph's landscape architecture programs are celebrating "50 years of landscape architecture at Guelph" during this year's Homecoming Weekend (September 18 - 20, 2015) with a special weekend-long event and an online project recognizing its notable alumni.

Since the first graduating class in 1969, U of G has graduated nearly 1,500 landscape architecture students through its BLA and MLA programs, who make up a large percentage of practicing and academic landscape architects in Canada and a great many others distributed internationally.  Perhaps the most exciting part of their legacy is the mark that the five decades of students have left on the local landscape and beyond.

Wanting to celebrate and recognize the fantastic alumni that have come out of Guelph's landscape architecture programs, a small team of faculty, staff and students started soliciting information on who should be considered as "50 notable alumni" to echo Guelph's LA anniversary milestone. It couldn’t stop there, alumni from five decades have currently offered information on over 70 alumni profiles; the now "50 years of notable alumni" project intends on continuing as an ongoing tradition to celebrate Guelph's LA alumni well after this September's anniversary celebration.
