Are you interested in increasing your capacity to integrate quick hand graphics and computer graphics?
How you can interface between AutoCAD, Sketch-up and Photoshop in your studio projects?
Creating quick ‘wire frame’ drawings?
Adding ‘digital entourage’ – where to find it, how to use it?

During this workshop, James will present and demonstrate advanced 2D and 3D graphic techniques and aid
workshop participants in using these techniques in their own studio work. The workshop is intended for
and is particularly well-suited for those students who have some ‘working comfort’ with AutoCAD, Photoshop
and/or Sketch-Up.

For increased success, students are expected to bring in their own laptops pre-loaded with AutoCAD,
Sketch-Up and Photoshop. While the computer is expected, students should also have access to their
own basic hand drawing equipment (trace, tape, pencils, technical pens and colour media).

Anticipated Schedule:

9:00am – 9:45am What are advanced graphics and why are they so important in graphic communication for LAs?
9:45am –10:30am Wire-frame basics
10:30am –12:00pm Quick Perspectives – using wire-frames
12:00pm –1:00pm Working Lunch
1:00pm – 2:00pm Working in AutoCAD, integrating Photoshop
2:00pm – 3:00pm Working in AutoCAD, integrating Sketch-up
3:00pm – 4:30pm Death by Sketch-Up – how to avoid it!
