Date:
Thursday, January 26th, 2017 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM
Location:

ALEX 259

Founded in 2014 by six landscape architecture students, the Society for Ecological Restoration (University of Guelph chapter) is a club focused on providing hands-on experience to all students with an interest in restoration.  From brownfield projects to pollinator gardens, SERUG has hosted guest lectures, workshops and events on a variety of topics.

Check out some of our past projects on:

Our first meeting of the semester is this Thursday, January 26th at 5:30 pm in ALEX 259 (new members welcome!). We'll start the meeting by chatting about SERUG, our past events, and what restoration means to all of us.  This will be followed by a presentation on pollinators and wildflowers in Ontario, where we will learn about:

  • How to prepare a wildflower garden
  • The importance of native species
  • Best practices for maintenance of gardens
  • Pollinator habitat and needs
  • Potential for expansion of pollinators gardens on campus

A variety of species of native, wild-collected flower seeds for participants. Everyone can create their own seed mixes to take home and plant!

About Us

The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) brings together major academic fields concerned with creating strong communities, in Canada and around the world. The four highly respected programs in SEDRD share many common goals but approach them in different and complementary ways. This model reflects the imperatives in building authentic communities where planners, landscape architects, communicators, and citizens all play important interdependent roles in community strength.
