Campus Card Replacement Details & Information

Open the items below to learn what to do in each situation and how to request your new Campus Card.

You are responsible to ensure that your card is protected and free from damage.

If you damage your card, there is a $30 replacement fee. Please bring in your damaged card to the Campus Card Office, to receive your replacement card.

How do I care for my I.D. Card?

  • You are responsible for the Campus Card that has been issued to you.If your card is damaged and not working, a replacement card will need to be issued to you by the Campus Card Office. There is a $30 replacement fee for damaged, lost & demagnetized cards.

  • The card is durable, but if not properly cared for, it is possible to damage the embedded antennae wiring, or chip within the card. The following tips will help to keep your Campus Card functioning properly:

  • Do not punch a hole in your card.

  • Regularly Clean the Card: Gently wipe the card with a soft, dry cloth to keep it clean. Dirt and grime on the card's magnetic stripe can interfere with the reading process.

  • Keep the Card Away from Magnets: do not place your card near strong magnetic field, magnetic phone cases, or computer.

  • Avoid Exposing to Extreme Temperatures: Do not leave your card in places with extreme temperatures, such as in a car under direct sunlight or near heating elements, as heat can damage the magnetic stripe. (i.e. car dashboard)

  • Do not expose your card to extreme heat or open flame. (i.e. clothes dryer)

  • Do Not Get Wet: Keep your card dry. Exposure to water or other liquids can damage the magnetic stripe and the internal components of the card.

  • Avoid Demagnetization & Separate from Other Cards: Store your student card separately from other cards to prevent the magnetic stripes from rubbing against each other, which can lead to demagnetization. Do not store your card in a wallet that you keep in your back pocket.

  • Avoid Physical Stress: Do not bend, twist, or punch holes in your card. Physical stress can damage the card's internal chip and magnetic stripe.

  • Do not hold your card in your mouth.

  • Do not scratch your card. (i.e. with a pen or sharp tool)

  • By following these precautions, you can avoid unnecessary damage, including demagnetization, and ensure your Campus Card remains functional.

If your Campus Card is lost or stolen you will be subject to a $30 replacement fee.
