A Special Stream of the MBA / A Unique Opportunity for you
The University of Guelph has an international reputation in food and agriculture research and education, and from this grew an MBA specializing in food and agribusiness that has been running for many years. In May 2013 we launch a special stream of the MBA that will have a direct impact on the issue of world hunger.OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU
Develop sustainable and equitable business solutions for some aspect of the problems in food production and access to advance the fight against world hunger. Simultaneously, earn an MBA in food and agribusiness management and launch a career in food management, public policy, or related social enterprise.
Program Objectives:
- Impact while learning: Each class has impact on an important problem through analysis of key issues and practical recommendations to corporations, governments or international agencies.
- A special MBA: Offer a unique MBA experience fulfilling the core curriculum focused on the world’s largest industry – food.
- Future leaders: Each year attract a diverse international group, engage them in some of the world’s most difficult problems and prepare them to make a difference through their success in the program and in their careers.
PROGRAM DETAILS
Course Work: Two years full-time, combining business and international development studies.
Fieldwork: The first year’s fieldwork involves developing an understanding of the issues in food production, supply chain, financing and policy. Internships and in-situation development opportunities will be arranged to ensure a real world understanding of the issues as well as the business, policy and cultural context. At the end of the first year, the class will choose a problem to solve, each with a defined client (corporate, NGO, or government), scope and deliverables for the second year solution development and report. The report will meet the requirements of the MBA’s Major Research Project.
