Ship in insulated container with freezer packs.

Collection Protocol

Immediately after draw, inoculate blood into blood culture medium containing SPS anticoagulant. Invert bottle a few times. Do NOT refrigerate. EDTA, citrate, and heparin are toxic to microorganisms and blood submitted in these tubes is not acceptable for blood culture.

Additional Information

Submission of 2 consecutive draws is included in the price of this test. Includes aerobic and anaerobic culture and re-culture after 5 d if no growth initially. Susceptibility testing is included for aerobic bacteria only.
