Ship in insulated container, no freezer packs required. Do not refrigerate smears.

Collection Protocol

Submit a prepared, air-dried blood smear along with the EDTA whole blood sample.

Additional Information

Heinz bodies form as a result of oxidative damage to erythrocytes. Significant hemolysis and anemia may result. A comprehensive CBC should be ordered with all Heinz body test requests so that the hematologic picture can be fully evaluated.
