Ontario Crops Research Centre – Woodstock

The University of Guelph operates a total of 150 hectares of the Ontario Crops Research Centre in Woodstock (formerly known as the Woodstock Research Station). Only 60 hectares of this land are level and uniform enough for research use, and 30 hectares are systematically tile drained. An 18m x 35m building is used for machinery storage, threshing and sample storage.

The facility is owned by Agricultural Research and Innovation Ontario and managed by U of G through the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance.

Research areas and outcomes

Since its establishment in 1983, the Ontario Crops Research Centre in Woodstock has supported a wide variety of crops research including soybean, corn, edible bean, cereals and forage breeding programs, cropping systems research, Ontario variety trials, herbicide evaluation and weed management programs.
