Regulatory Training

As a global leader in education, research and service in agriculture, food, environmental sciences and rural community development, the University of Guelph has a responsibility for education in the areas of agriculture and veterinary medicine. 

The Regulatory Training Program supports the development of critical, non-discretionary training, education and certification for regulatory requirements under provincial legislation. It also supports the digital delivery of eLearning courses for food safety, traceability and farm business management. 

The Regulatory Training Program supports:

  • Delivery of critical, stable, high-quality training and regulatory certification programs required by the agri-food sector to support regulatory compliance and stewardship outcomes;
  • Strengthening the sustainability of the agricultural industry in Ontario through regulatory certification and licensing;
  • Measuring participant skills and competence in material covered by the training, education and regulatory certification programs through evaluation and testing; and
  • Building public confidence regarding the agricultural sector’s ability to protect the environment, protect food safety and minimize risks to public health.

The Ontario Pesticide Education Program supports Ontario farmers and pesticide vendors to achieve pesticide safety certification and training.
