New Quality Engineering Micro-Credentials Launch to Support In-Demand Skills
Posted on March 13, 2026
The School of Continuing Studies has recently launched a brand-new suite of stackable Quality Engineering Micro-Credentials. These short self-directed courses are designed to equip early- to mid-career professionals with advanced skills and career-ready experience for quality engineering roles in manufacturing, life sciences, food processing, and professional services.
Each course builds on the last and provides learners with proven tools and methodologies to make informed decisions, optimize processes, and drive organizational excellence.
“These new Quality Engineering Micro-Credentials reflect our commitment to developing learning opportunities that respond directly to industry needs,” says Dr. Dianne Tyers, assistant vice-president, School of Continuing Studies. “By working closely with our partners and focusing on practical, in-demand skills, we ensure our courses remain relevant and equip learners with knowledge they can apply immediately in the workplace.”
Flexible, industry-aligned, and developed in partnership with the University of Guelph’s College of Engineering, these credentials are designed to fit into busy schedules while delivering real-world skills employers recognize and value.
Courses take just 15 to 20 hours to complete and allow learners to start and finish at their own pace. Registration is open, with three of the four courses beginning May 1, 2026.
Micro-credentials are quickly emerging as a new way to meet job market demands within a shorter time commitment and at lower tuition costs. This new movement in education is on track to gain popularity over longer and more traditional continuing education programs.
