Volunteer Experience & Career Training Program (VECT)

Volunteer, gain career skills, and make a difference in the community.

VECT is an exciting co-curricular program designed to help boost your career-ready skills, expand your personal and professional networks, and make a positive impact in the Guelph-Wellington community, and beyond.  Through VECT you will contribute to meaningful community initiatives in the non-profit and public sectors and be supported in professional development that will set you apart for further employment opportunities.

In addition to specific skills you will develop in your volunteer placement, our VECT activities will help prepare you for workplace professionalism and give you opportunities to improve your oral communication.

WACE Global Challenge

The WACE Global Challenge is an experiential learning project that connects you to a team of students from around the world, studying in a variety of disciplines.  Together you support an organization that is working to address one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Participants will work remotely, in teams, and act like a consultant for the organization, conducting research and providing recommendations to increase the organization’s positive social, environmental, and economic impact.

The Experiential Learning Hub pays for a small cohort of University of Guelph students to participate in the WACE Global Challenge, and also provides a small honorarium upon successful completion. Participants are required to commit about 40 hours to the Global Challenge over a four-week time frame.
