Profile

I received my Hon. BSc at McMaster University in Life Sciences which allowed me to delve into a wide range of scientific fields ranging from physics, chemistry, psychology, health sciences and origins but quickly realized that my passion was in biology. During my undergraduate studies I had the opportunity to assist with field work on gulls and cormorants in Hamilton Harbour, made cranium endocasts at the Royal Ontario Museum for their collections and participated in a field course in Indonesia - scuba diving to help with marine research projects on Hoga Island and reef monitoring, shark & ray abundance and large marine mammal surveys off a research boat.

I completed my MSc at the University of Guelph with Dr. Josef Ackerman where I studied the effects of movement on aquatic and terrestrial particle capture in using both lab and field techniques. The results showed that under certain parameters, incorporating organism movement into current models used to predict particle capture is a necessity and will hopefully help focus future research.
