Why Study Electrical Engineering at U of G?

Electricity powers everything we are trying to fix: decarbonized grids, electric vehicles, the chips behind AI, and the networks connecting it all. Electrical engineers build that infrastructure. In this program you will move from physics and circuit theory to working hardware, designing systems that generate, sense, process, and move both power and information.

Design, Build and Innovate

Work with industry-standard simulation and design tools to build circuits, embedded electronics, power systems, and controls, then test them in the lab rather than only on paper.

Choose Your Area of Focus

Specialize in Microelectronics and Smart Devices, Connected Systems and Automation, or Electromagnetics and Sustainable Energy.

Graduate Ready

Guelph Electrical Engineering graduates pursue careers in semiconductors, renewable energy, automotive and aerospace, telecommunications, automation, and graduate research.

Co-op Stream

All Engineering majors at the University of Guelph are offered with co-op, allowing students to gain valuable paid work experience as part of their degree. Our program is direct entry, meaning you apply directly into your major of choice from the start.

Students are admitted directly to the co-op program. A regular stream is available, and students not interested in co-op may request a transfer once they begin their program.
