Server authentication keeps online transactions private while they travel across the public Internet. It is implemented using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificate technology.
CCS Provides SSL Certificate [13] Administration Service through a partnership with Entrust Datacard [14].
The Certificate on your web server verifies to users that they are securely communicating with your web site or application.
An SSL Certificate protects online information in three ways:
- The SSL Certificate allows the encryption of sensitive information during online transactions.
- Each SSL Certificate is a unique credential that identifies the certificate owner.
- The issuing authority (that is, Entrust [14]) authenticates the identity of the certificate before it is issued.
The reasons for wanting this service can be found in http://products.secureserver.net/SSLMarketingGuide.pdf [15] .

Departmental IT Administrators can request an SSL Certificate during regular business hours using our online request form. You can expect your certificate to be issued within 3 business days. SSL certificates expire, typically after one year, and must be renewed. CCS will remind you that your certificate is due for renewal but it is the client's responsibility to request certificate renewal through the online request form.
For service level details, refer to the SSL Certificate Service Level Agreement (SLA) [19] .
