– Besseria incompleta Curran, 1926a: 84. Type data: holotype female (CNC). Type locality: Canada, Ontario, Macdiarmid.


atra (Coquillett, 1897).– Québec and Maine to Kansas and Georgia, also Texas (S&A, 1965), Ontario (CNC).
– Apinops atra Coquillett, 1897: 68. Type data: holotype male (USNM). Type locality: USA, southern Illinois.


brevipennis (Loew, 1863).– British Columbia to North Dakota, south to California, Arizona, and Nebraska (S&A, 1965), Saskatchewan, Iowa (CNC).
– Wahlbergia brevipennis Loew, 1863: 322. Type data: holotype female (MCZ). Type locality: USA, Nebraska.
– Oedemasoma nuda Townsend, 1908: 80. Type data: holotype male (USNM). Type locality: USA, Nevada, Ormsby County.
